The Role of Faith-Based Organizations
Many people turn to their faith leaders for help when dealing with life and death issues. LifeCenter’s mission is founded on the belief that donation transcends all forms of diversity, including the rich diversity of religious traditions, helping to connect people by offering the gift of life and healing to people in need.
Your organization can take an active role in advocating for organ and tissue donation. LifeCenter works closely with religious leaders to promote donation, share accepted religious views on donations, and offer spiritual support to people touched by donations. Together, we help save and enhance lives by providing resources to serve your faith-based communities.
What Does My Religion Say About Donation?
Faith and Hope Month
Each November faith-based organizations join in celebrating Faith and Hope Month through compassionate messaging offering hope and life through organ and tissue donation. Faith and Hope Month is dedicated to telling the stories of those who have used their faith to inspire them to become organ and tissue donors or to support them after the loss of a loved one. Help us spread the message of hope in your faith-based community.
National Faith and Hope Month materials are available upon request. Contact Audrey Holtzman today for more information.
Ways Your Organization Can Participate
Participate in National Donor Sabbath
National Donor Sabbath, observed two weekends before Thanksgiving weekend each November, is when thousands of congregations across the country come together with donor families, transplant recipients, and donation and transplantation professionals to talk about the need for the life-saving and healing gifts passed to others through transplantation; while also encouraging people to register to become organ and tissue donors.
Become a Supporting Faith-Based Organization
We invite you to join other faith-based organizations pledging their support of organ and tissue donation. As a leader of your faith-based community, you can make a significant difference in the lives of donor families and transplant recipients by supporting the decision to donate life.
