LifeCenter and Flinnoy Hopton Jr. Scholarship

Flinnoy Hopton Jr., a heart recipient and one of the founders of the Avondale Running Club, was a beloved member of the Avondale community. Though Flinnoy passed away in 2022, his legacy as a champion and leader continues to live on.

In honor of Flinnoy’s impact on our community, LifeCenter is proud to announce the LifeCenter and Flinnoy Hopton Jr. Scholarship for students living in Avondale.

Guidelines for Qualification

Avondale resident.
Senior in high school who has been accepted to a post-secondary program.
Showcase local community volunteer efforts.
Written reference from a teacher or adult mentor.

Scholarship Recipient

Will receive $1,000/year for four years while actively enrolled in a post-secondary program.
Must provide proof of enrollment.
Must volunteer at a minimum of two LifeCenter events each year, one of which must be an event they champion in the Avondale neighborhood.

Eligibility Check

I am an Avondale resident. I am not a current employee or Board Member of LifeCenter. I am a current high school senior in good academic standing and going to attend college, trade school, cosmetology school, or other certification program in the Fall of 2024. If awarded, the scholarship will be paid directly to the program. I understand that I am eligible to receive this scholarship for 4 years, as long as I continue to remain in a post-secondary program. I certify that I am eligible to apply based on these above requirements.
