Donor Family and Transplant Recipient Meetings
LifeCenter is happy to assist donor families and transplant recipients by supporting their shared wishes for direct communication*. Not all donor families and transplant recipients wish to meet or communication more directly, and LifeCenter supports your wishes.
In the event that both the donor’s family and the transplant recipient(s) have written and expressed either their desire to have direct communication or to meet, then LifeCenter can help facilitate this process.
* Direct communication is when both parties receive each other’s contact information and are able to meet, speak on the phone, email, and communicate on their own without LifeCenter’s involvement.

Guidelines for Direct Communication
What is the process of direct communication?
- Both donor families and transplant recipient(s) must write to one another at least once, AND share their wishes for direct communication within their correspondence to the other party.
- If both parties express in writing their desire for direct communication, LifeCenter will mail a Direct Communication form for each party to complete and return.
- Once LifeCenter receives both completed forms, LifeCenter will send a letter to both the donor family and transplant recipient, sharing the contact information that each party chose to provide on their form.
- LifeCenter is happy to assist in arranging or supporting both parties during a physical first meeting, if desired.
